Media Literacy for All!

Children today are far more familiar with the digital world, and are exposed early on to all the opportunities and risks it possesses. Minding Media aims to improve the capacity of primary school teachers to engender in pupils the critical media and advertising literacy skills to safely navigate the digital world!

Media literacy is not just important, it's absolutely critical. It's going to make the difference between whether kids are a tool of the mass media or whether the mass media is a tool for kids to use.

Our project responds to our common desire to increase the advertising literacy of children and wider society. By working collaboratively, we have built on our individual experiences of media literacy and combined several specialist expertise in digital pedagogy and gamification to develop a unique set of resources.

Result 01

MINDING MEDIA Video Training Library

The Video Training Library address the need to provide usable resources for raising awareness in children of “disinformation” and improving their resilience by promoting media literacy skills

Result 02

MINDING MEDIA Minecraft World

A custom Minecraft world, will be conceptualised specifically to support the delivery of Problem Based Learning challenges to enhance media literacy. The MINDING MEDIA world will provide the thematic environment in which all activities will take place.

MINDING MEDIA Teaching Toolkit

Our project result three represents a toolkit of resources to support teachers in teaching the fundamental elements of advertising literacy and engenders a critical media literacy mindset in educators.
